Exam Preparation Courses
We love nothing more than to help our students achieve academic excellence. We have exam preparation classes in addition to our General English classes, which tend to run between 1 and 2pm in the week. In our higher level classes, teachers also help prepare students for the Cambridge IELTS, First, Advanced and Proficiency exams. Alternatively, you can opt for private one-to-one lessons that focus on your particular requirements.
IELTS
This exam is accepted by all UK universities and is great for improving your academic skills. Here at GG Colleges we provide excellent preparation courses for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam. Our IELTS course will develop your key academic reading and writing skills and give you the confidence to participate successfully in college life – and beyond!
Cambridge First
The Cambridge First (formerly First Certificate in English) is the first very clear milestone on the road to Proficiency. If you are a B2 level student, taking this exam heralds your success. A B2 First qualification proves you have the language skills to live and work independently in an English-speaking country or study on courses taught in English.
Cambridge Advanced
The Cambridge Advanced (formerly Certificate in Advanced English) exam is your natural next step after you have mastered the Cambridge First. The Cambridge Advanced exam is accepted by thousands of universities and employers as evidence of an outstanding achievement in language learning. Preparing for C1 Advanced helps you develop the skills to make the most of studying, working and living in the UK.
Cambridge C2 Proficiency
The Cambridge C2 Proficiency (formerly Certificate of Proficiency in English) qualification shows the world that you have mastered English to an exceptional level. It proves you can communicate with the fluency and sophistication of a highly competent English speaker. Preparing for and passing the exam means you have the level of English that’s needed to study or work in a very senior professional or academic environment, for example on a postgraduate or PhD programme.
- Tracking your progress is the key to passing any exam and every week of the course you will face tough tests and practice papers.
- The course tutor will monitor your progress towards success in the Cambridge exams and make recommendations throughout the course.
- Passing any exam is not easy and will need you to make a really serious commitment to learning and studying – but doing that with the team at GG Colleges is the best way to do it.

- Classes are from Monday to Friday except bank holidays.
- *1 Adademic Year : 36 weeks of tuition plus 16 week of holidays, which must be booked in advance.
Exam Preparation
Pass your English exam with confidence. Our intensive exam preparation courses in central London are designed to help you get the score you need for university, work, or visa applications. We offer specialist, expert-led classes for IELTS, Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced, and C2 Proficiency.
Who is this Course For?
Our exam preparation courses are for motivated students who need an official, internationally-recognised qualification.
- Exams Offered: IELTS, Cambridge B2 First (FCE), C1 Advanced (CAE), C2 Proficiency (CPE)
- Entry Level: Intermediate (B1) or above is recommended
- Start Date: Flexible. Can be joined as part of our higher-level General English classes or as a dedicated One-to-One course.
- Class Times: 09:30-12:30 (Morning) | 14:00-17:00 (Afternoon)
- Class Duration: 3 hours (including a 15-minute break)
- Study Options: Join our higher-level group classes or book intensive One-to-One private lessons.
- Minimum Age: 16+
- Location: In-person at our central London campuses
Which course is right for me?
Not sure which exam to take? Here’s a simple guide to help you choose based on your goals.
- You need to apply to a UK university: Your best choice is IELTS Academic. This is the most widely accepted exam for university entry in the UK and is often a requirement for your application.
- You want to prove you can work or live independently in the UK: Your best choice is the B2 First (FCE). This is the perfect exam for intermediate (B2) students to prove you have the practical language skills for everyday life and work.
- You want to work at a professional level or attend a top university: Your best choice is the C1 Advanced (CAE). This C1-level qualification is trusted by thousands of top employers and universities as proof of an outstanding level of English.
- You want to prove you have complete, near-native mastery: Your best choice is the C2 Proficiency (CPE). This is the highest-level qualification you can get. It proves you have the exceptional fluency needed for senior professional or academic roles, such as a PhD programme.

Our Teaching Approach
Our approach is focused on exam success. Your lessons will be led by experienced teachers who are experts on the specific exam you are taking.
IELTS Course: This course will develop the key academic reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills you need for the exam and for future success in college life.
Cambridge Courses (B2, C1, C2): These classes focus on the specific grammar, vocabulary, and skills required to pass. You will learn the exact techniques needed to master each part of the test.
In all exam classes, you will face tough tests and practice papers every week. Your tutor will closely monitor your progress and give you the feedback you need to succeed.
